In the near future, energy reserves are faltering, and humanity has been fed lies that any disaster on planet earth is caused by off-world entities. MALI LANG is the lead detective for the clandestine agency that has enjoyed a symbiotic relationship with said ETs for the last century. The small troupe of investigators believe there are altruistic otherworldly races who safeguard earth’s resources for their own use. When a certain species discovers an imminent threat that would reach above the STRATOSPHERE, a warning is issued in the form of the crippling of a privateer spacecraft.

In a quick paced, page-turning adventure, STRATOSPHERE exposes the workings of the shadow government operation that employs Mali’s succeed-at-any-cost methods. Lang blurs the code of conduct as she blackmails the vulnerable SUNNY HARKER into joining the agency. The indomitable and feisty fireplug of an Astro-scientist, however, is always on guard while working with the mysterious UFO whisperer.

The new Lang & Harker buddy-cop team must find a way to get along if they are to survive. Harker, aware she is the expendable one, buries her resentment while Lang softens and allows Sunny a peek past her impenetrable persona. Amity, however, must take a back seat because their lives are in constant danger as they attempt to solve the mystery.
